TS Gordon's Winds Could Reach Hurricane Force

TS Gordon could become a hurricane, sometime in the next 24 hours, as it bears down on the gulf states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. With it, Gordon will bring flooding, wind damage, storm surge and a number of other dangers.

NWS has now issed hurricane warning for TS Gordon from the Pearl River, Mississippi, to the border between Alabama and Florida. Gorden will continue to strengthen, as it moves into the gulf states. Please be prepared.

Terrebonne Parish Schools Close ahead of TS Gordon

We are currently monitoring Tropical Storm Gordon. Based on the current projected path of the storm, all Terrebonne Parish public schools will be open tomorrow, September 4.

Should the forecast change and school closures become necessary, information will be posted to www.tpsd.org, this Facebook page, and local media.

Terrebonne Parish Sandbags

Officials in Terribonne Parish have announced locations where resident may fill sandbags in advance of TS Gordon, which could be headed for the region.

Please be advised that I have instructed Terrebonne Parish Public Works Division to begin providing self-serve sand and bags to the public at 8:00 am. The following locations are planned to be opened on Monday, September 3, 2018, no later than 5:00 pm as self-serve sandbag locatons. (Please remember to bring your shovel.)
